These chain pliers make removing and installing the clip on a motorcycle chain master link easy. The pliers allow horizontal and vertical use because they have stepped tips on the front and the side. It also works on bicycle chains.
 
These Japanese-made Hozan P-221 chain pliers are the best and easiest to use. Thanks to a small grove, it is effortless to center one jaw of the pliers on the pin while the stepped tip on the jaw grips the clip for easy installation or removal.
 
The three-sided stepped tips on one of the jaws make these chain pliers unique. You can use these pliers horizontally and vertically to reach master link clips in hard places. For example, master links on trials motorcycles are often clipped on the inside of the chain facing the rear wheel.
 
Nonetheless, the stepped tip on the side of the jaw pliers makes it much easier to reach the clip for removal or installation.
